The brief & The Approach

As part of visual communication design course, we were tasked to design a series of 3 packages for a basic food product. The goal was to research the cultural and symbolic meaning surrounding the product and translate them into a new visual concept through the design of the package.

For this project, I chose honey. During my research, I discovered that different honey varieties carry distinct colors, flavors and characteristics depending on their floral source. I also came across its connection to Greek mythology, where honey was associated with ambrosia- the food of the gods.

The concept

A honey brand concept inspired ny the unique qualities of different honey varieties, each linked to a Greek deity whose personality reflects its color, flavor and character.

Inspiration & References

Symbols & Visuals

After choosing the deities, I explored the visual attributes associated with each of them, including objects, garments, symbols, and animals. These references helped shape the graphic and illustrative language of the gods, which appears across the jars and helps define the identity of each honey variety.

Packaging References

These references inspired a packaging approach with a clean and aesthetic exterior, and a more impressive, exciting interior. The goal was to keep the outside minimal, while making the inside feel more special once opened.
